What is Engineering Management?
Engineering management blends technical expertise with leadership and business skills to guide engineering teams and projects. It focuses on planning, coordinating, and optimizing technical work so organizations can deliver high-quality products and innovations efficiently. This field is ideal for engineers who want to lead teams, drive strategy, and bridge the gap between engineering and business.

Management training is essential for technical professionals
A master’s in Engineering Management is ideal for technical professionals who want to move into leadership without losing their engineering focus. Unlike a traditional MBA—which emphasizes broad business areas like finance and operations—Engineering Management blends advanced technical knowledge with management, project leadership, and strategic decision-making. This allows emerging technical leaders to strengthen the skills most relevant to engineering-driven organizations while staying closely connected to the technical work that defines their careers.
More than 50% of engineers change industries or move into management ten years after graduation. After 20 years, the percentage grows to over 70%. UF HWCOE Analysis EED IRB #ET00020852
